Two exceptional violists in the history of Arts University VI Taller sobre "La Enseñanza de las Artes en la Educación Superior"
Main Article Content
Abstract
Teaching requirements and the love for an instrument with a discreet presence in music such as the viola provided the conditions for these two interpreters, Juan Carlos González y Eduardo Cana, to become composers. They began composing small musical pieces with a typical dance character related to diverse genders from Cuban popular music. Later, their desire grew and they achieved a relevant development in creating other kinds of musical works with multiple formats and performance such as musical arrangement and production. At the end of 2020, another violist, Raúl Rojas, defended his master project in which he used a sample of Juan Carlos y Eduardo Cana´s work, and proposed a new product for Tropicana Cabaret. This academic action made possible to share work results in other contexts at the Music faculty. This article is aimed at presenting the contributions of these violists to the progress of Cuban popular music and their impact on the improvement of internationally recognized artistic spaces.
