Abstract

At present, the use of artificial intelligence as a technological tool is common, which is emphasized in Cuban universities in academic training and, in particular, of future chemical engineers, highlighting its significance in the use of information and communication technologies for teaching. Therefore, what will be the impact of the digital transformation with the use of artificial intelligence for the teaching and training of Chemical Engineering students? Consequently, the objective was defined as to analyze the influence of the use of artificial intelligence in the training of chemical engineers at the University of Cienfuegos. In this work, a literature review on the use of AI in teaching and learning processes, specifically in chemistry in education, is carried out. For the study, articles from the last 5 years were searched in databases such as Google Scholar and Scielo. A survey was applied to 2nd year students of Chemical Engineering at UCf. The survey showed that 81.25% of the students are familiar with ChatGPT, 76.92% of whom have used it. 61.54% use it to send questions and get immediate answers to verify their understanding. The survey shows a high familiarity and use of ChatGPT as a support tool in the subject Transport Phenomena, becoming a valuable resource to solve specific doubts, obtain practical examples and simplify complex concepts.
