Main Article Content
Abstract
The teaching of English as a foreign language has perpetuated colonial power relations, which, through traditional pedagogical practices, has privileged the culture and language of other contexts. Involving approaches to teaching English that are contextualized to the educational needs in Colombia, characterized by the convergence of multiple cultures, knowledge, origins, and worldviews through the development of innovative educational proposals that enable the teaching of English through methods and content based on local cultures and ancestral knowledge, supporting critical thinking through the use of technological tools and specialized AI-based software that motivate and promote meaningful learning. The proposal "Challenges and lessons learned in the implementation of AI for decolonial and intercultural English teaching in extracurricular contexts" aims to design, implement, and evaluate a teaching proposal focused on educational software powered by AI tools for English teaching, incorporating a decolonial intercultural approach in each of its activities and resources. The proposal is based on a descriptive qualitative case study, conducting an analysis of the needs, interests, and cultural contexts of the participating population from an intercultural and decolonial perspective through the development of educational software enhanced with AI tools that promote intercultural language skills and encourage critical reflection on cultural diversity in context. This initiative seeks to generate an innovative English learning process based on the exaltation and empowerment of one's own culture through intercultural dialogue and critical reflection on linguistic and cultural colonialism.
