Pedagogical conceptualization of a continuing education strategy in oral health aimed at older adults X Taller Internacional “La Educación Médica: Retos y Perspectivas”

Abstract

This work addresses a problem present in the Comprehensive Health Centers of the city of Camagüey, where a significant number of older adults with oral diseases have been identified. These individuals require educational and preventative care, in addition to the necessary treatment, to enable them to achieve responsible self-care independently and with family support. A review of the literature revealed existing research on this issue, but these studies have focused on a descriptive analysis of the current situation and the application of isolated strategies, without considering the comprehensive approach required for this type of proposal. Therefore, as a first step, a pedagogical conceptualization was provided, based on the essential processes involved in achieving this goal. This conceptualization can serve as a foundation for researchers delving deeper into the problem.
