University-company linkage in the training of higher technicians for strategic sectors in Cuba II Taller Internacional "Universidad-sector productivo y de los servicios"

Abstract

In Cuba, the new level of Short Cycle Higher Education was created from the 2018-2019 academic year, aimed at the training of higher technicians in universities, with a duration of two to three years, a process with which it is committed to achieve a contribution to the preparation and development of the skilled workforce required by the country, with a view to achieving the 2030 goal to promote learning opportunities, and ensure equal access of men and women to quality technical, professional and higher education. The research presented the path taken by the Ministry of Higher Education to fulfill these purposes at this new educational level, and the scientific methods applied to follow up the work carried out nationally, which prioritizes the link between the university and the company, represented by the productive and service spheres. To this end, the process was covered from the time the curricula were centrally designed to the ways and resources that were used to implement them in each territory jointly, with greater quality and relevance. The objective of the presentation was to highlight the extent to which challenges have been overcome in the linkage with some of the country's strategic sectors.
