Abstract

The master's program expands its focus according to fundamental activities: research, clinical research, teaching and research, or administrative research. These new orientations are innovative in the curricular conceptions of master's programs, based on postgraduate regulations, where the concept of "academic credit" is relevant, along with contemporary trends for academic training at the highest level. The objective was to develop the theoretical and methodological conceptions for the design of master's curricula, in accordance with the new orientations of postgraduate education in our country. In order to achieve relevant master's program designs, based on scientific and interdisciplinary foundations, that develop the personality of health professionals and that incorporate academic credit, these are developed based on the activities of research, clinical practice, teaching, and administration, with the peculiarity that in these last three program orientations, training, on-the-job training, and research are integral parts of the master's academic training. These curricular designs achieve greater relevance and excellence in the continuing education of health professionals, which has an impact on the quality of their functions and their performance in service to the health of society.
